Do you know if Medical Insurance will pay for food coachs? One of the questions before considering taking the Food Coach Academy.

Answer:

So when it comes to culinary medicine, um, there is no what's called CPT code. So in order to have a code should put down, so like a dietician has codes and a doctor has codes, insurance will pay for those codes. And I'm gonna give you just a trip down Health coach, health Coach Lane for a minute, health coaches, over the last like 20 years, there were so many different programs. Um, and it took, uh, coach Meg Meson at Harvard a dozen years 'cause I spoke to her 12 years to create a standardized health coaching protocol. Um, and still with that, I don't believe there's health coach specific codes when it comes to culinary medicine. What's happening in the Food is Medicine World is that in order to receive medically tailored meals or produce or groceries, there has to be a registered dietician that recommends what those foods are for. And I'm working with the Academy of Nutrition, um, and dietetics right now to create a code so that dietician technicians would be able to use this code. Once you have a code, I know this is a long answer, but once you have a code, um, then you could, you can through time ask that it, that health coaches or food coaches can be able to use it. So it's a long process to get from being a new entity like health coach, like food coach, and then getting a, um, insurance to pay for that.
